Thursday was supposed to be the coolest day left and the humidity starting to build again so I decided to do some yard work. First I weed wacked, then I took down a couple of 15' saplings and cut them up for taking them to the brush pile at the dump.
After that I watered the south side garden and perused the flower offerings. To start with are things that just started flowering. The Yucca spike is taller than I am
The next flowers were already starting to bloom in pictures I posted previously, but the Black Eyed Suzie's in the driveway garden have really stepped up their game now that the Butterfly Weed is going by. This picture is the lowest tier of that garden, but they are also abundant in the other two tiers.
The standard orange lily above is in the shrub garden and mostly shaded, so it got a later start than the others.
I noticed in the roadside garden that the tall phlox are setting up buds, so those should be coming along in the nest week or so.
Your flowers are all beautiful. I particularly appreciate your yucca. Wow!
We've been paralleling in our activities - taking out excess trees. I've not gotten to the weed whacking, yet (except for edging the curbing and sidewalk). I want to go buy some pre-filled reels of line (thanks for the idea) so that I don't have to stop to rewind more line on the reel but haven't accomplished that in the past few weeks. (Perhaps I'll make that our "big deal" today?) I'm still transplanting irises and pulling weeds.
Elder Brother and I started pulling weeds for our neighbors in Tulsa to earn money - before I started school, I think. Here I am, 80 years later still pulling weeds. Not something I love to do, but I feel compelled.
