If one has no need to protect children or pets, I see no need to install and maintain a fence. Your idea of keeping the corner sections is good - serving as a reminder, but not presenting a large upkeep investment. (Who likes to maintain not only the fence, itself, but vegetation along it?)

I am shocked at how well your posts had stood up to the moisture - wouldn't have thought it possible - but lack of concrete surely makes removal easier.

Well done, and happy that your neighbor could benefit.

I knew Pressure Treated wood was moisture resistant - but that is almost miraculous.
