What happens when a 30+ year old pyrex measuring cup meets a newish Ball canning jar
The Pyrex was only dropped about 6 inches as I was placing it in the dish drainer after washing it.
I did get a replacement, but it isn't the same somehow. The handle heats up in the microwave - not badly, but enough to make me wonder what the difference is.
The markings come off of my measuring glassware long before I can break them. (I keep them around, anyway - perhaps not used for their original purpose.)

I'm guessing dishwasher washing makes the markings come off? That Measuring cup was bought in 1980, but has only seen a dishwasher a couple of times (never having a dishwasher previously, and since moving I have only really used it for warming coffee in the microwave and mixing up my shower gel - just a quick rinse is usually good).

You are undoubtedly correct, Bogie. D/W detergent + water jets make for powerful scouring action.
