One more guess: There seems to be a little window or mirror added to the windscreen ahead of where the rider's right hand would be. I can't figure out what it is, but I don't think I've seen that before (non-observant person that I am, that doesn't mean it wasn't there before). You are playing with my ignorance concerning motorcycles!!!

That is a side view mirror - standard on both the left and right side. However, you are correct, you have never seen that one before.
