Cop Car

That sounds like a lot; but, according to Wikipedia, the typical barge (about 60m x 10m) can carry up to 1500 tons of cargo. Thus, a typical barge should be able to carry 3 or those spans (assuming they physically fit - which, as steel is heavy stuff, they probably would).
It would be fun to watch!

Cop Car

Oops! I did not read/remember well. Your span is 2 million pounds, rather than the 1 million that I was working with; thus, the typical barge would carry only 1.5 of your spans. Sorry!

bogie

I beleive there is a zero or two missing from you figure. After all, 1500 tons is only 3000 pounds (heck, WS's truck can almost carry that much)

Cop Car

Wake up, Bogie, wake up and have your caffeine!
1500 tons(2000 pounds/ton)=3000000 pounds
Now you may go back to sleep.
*giggling*

Did I ever tell you about the time that I checked my bosses (approximately 100 pages) of calculations concerning a B-52D airframe - and - failed to note that he had omitted one-half of the weight of the fuselage?
Or the time that I failed to notice an error made (by an IBM card-cutting machine) that placed the engines of the KC-135 airframe that I was modeling (before the days when we had displays for the models on which we worked) on the horizontal tail, instead of on the wings? In the end, I had about 20 decks of IBM cards that were correct and about 7 decks that were in error. Did I notice? Well, no. It was only when the runs of some of the simulations looked "funny" that a more experienced modeler figured it out!

bogie

You got it, I'm blaming the early hour, not having worked out or had my shower yet, much less caffein (tea)! [facepalm]

Cop Car

Your not so bad. I can't even type in "boss's" correctly!

Cop Car

Or even "you're". (I can't type right now for laughing at myself!)
