Got to shovel after two different storms hit this week. First it was 8" of snow, followed by a couple inches of ice (the joys of trying to get into an ice-encrusted vehicle were just boundless - not). Then we had another 5-6" of snow on Friday.
Add that together with the close to 22" of snow last week and we quickly went from having an almost bare yard two weeks ago, with only 3-4" of crusted snow, to having a respsectable winter's worth of snow in the yard. A couple more storms and we will be struggling with finding someplace to put all the snow.
This coming week we will have bone chilling temps, with the night time temps heading down into the negative double digits. At those temps the wood stove cannot keep the upstairs warm, but it does take quite a bit of the load off the boiler. I'll just have to make sure that we have enough oil.
Bogie--You & WS like to fight cold, snow, & ice much more than I ever did. Had I moved in next door to you (don't shudder like that - you escaped, didn't you?), as soon as the house was livable, I would have started concentrating on a nice big garage. I like to play in the snow, but getting a vehicle out of its ice blanket first thing each morning isn't my cup of tea. You & WS are the most exercised people I know.
