I took Memorial Day off and we went on a ride with BIL, SIL: and Jimmy. The morning started with the strong smell of smoke from forest fires up in Quebec. The smoke was not only evident from its smell, but by the haze it created. The following pictures feature the smoke (not conventional haze or humidity):
A mountain view from Goshen
View of Windmills on a Lempster ridge line
More Lempster windmills (there are 12 windmills on the Lempster wind farm).
Later on in our ride, we passed a small town that had a parade (just ending) and a Helicopter on display by the National Guard:
Yes, that is WS in his Ride to the Wall shirt and Stars-n-Stripes skull cap. Jimmy is a bit to the right, and ahead of WS, in the black shirt.
We left fairly early in the morning, stopped for lunch (and obviously, to look at the chopper, along with various pit stops), and got back home in the late afternoon. Good scenery (despite the smoke, which dissipated some thru the afternoon), good lunch, good company and good riding.
A great day off.
A whiff of smoke is one thing, but it gets a bit irritating to the lungs after a few miles. Glad it dissipated for you.

It affected WS a bit - he used his inhaler several times. It didn't bother me or seem to bother anyone else though.
