Yesterday, an off-Friday from my regular job, I spent the morning at the place I do contract work for, and the afternoon on Census work, then took care of pet-sitting for the evening. When I got home, WS showed me these photo:
An Indigo Bunting. This is the first one we have had for years.
I was so excited when I saw the pictures, but figured that, WS would be the only one to actually see it. However, while I was getting the camera a little bit ago, to download the pictures, I saw the bunting briefly out on the deck.
WS has confirmed that we have a pair of cardinals (we've seen the male a couple of times, but this is the first sighting of a female). Additionally, I saw the first hummer of the season last night (they've been feeding enough that I put the big feeder out, and WS saw one the other day, but last night was my first sighting).
Isn't it pathetic that I get so excited over such a little thing as seeing birds? Guess that makes me a Bird-Nerd.
Bogie--Bird sightings are as good a thing as anything (better than many) to get excited about. Wonderful! (Beautiful!)
A pair of Baltimore orioles has been dining from our hummingbird feeders for the last few days - sometimes driving off the hummers. Not to be deterred, if the hummers cannot get to the feeders, they go to the blossoms on the sage plants (thanks for IDing the plants for me!)
