A gal at work brought me coconut M&M's the other day (I think she is trying to make me fat while she loses weight from the lapband surgery she had done). I thought they would be good, after all, the commercial on TV suggests that they are just small Mounds bars.
Uggh, that is all I can say. They don't actually have any coconut in them, just coconut flavoring. Heck, at least half the enjoyment of the Mounds bar is the texture of the coconut.
Since I dislike them, they'll probably be a big hit with everyone else.
Bogie--I assume you are critiquing what, in our area at least, are marketed as "Almond Joy Pieces". They also have the old "Reese's Pieces" (of "ET" fame), "Hershey's Special Dark Pieces", and "York Pieces".
Long ago I had tried the Reese's Pieces and found them to be cloyingly sweet, and your dad doesn't care for peanut butter, so have not bought them a 2nd time. The other day, having a coupon, I bought a package of York Pieces. As you lament on the Almond Joy Pieces, the York Pieces are not the same as a York Mint, which is enjoyable on occasion.
I believe that the "Pieces" products fill a niche for those who wish to eat while they drive - like M&Ms of all types, they "melt in your mouth, not in your hand". However, if one wishes to have a little sweet something after dinner, a York Mint or a miniature Almond Joy bar is a much tastier choice.
P.S. I was thinking that I had seen "Mounds Bar Pieces", too, but they are not shown on the package from the York Pieces that I retrieved from the candy drawer (where I stash your dad's candies used for refilling his candy dishes), for reference.

Funny, I would expect Almond Joy pieces to have both coconut and almond (taste). The packaging doesn't say Mounds (or Almond Joy), just coconut.
I had forgotten to mention how ungodly sweet those puppies were - way overdone! Maybe that is why I stick to Peanut M&M's, they actually have peanuts in them and they aren't extremely sweet.

Good to know. I like most of the M&M products, but this one sounds like a bad idea from the get-go. I'm with you, if it is going to have coconut flavor, it better have coconut. And an M&M isn't large enough for "real" coconut.
Haven't seen them around here (yet), but if I do, I'll pass. Mounds anyone?

I love Almond Joy! The coconut M&M/pieces just don't sound like a good idea at all. Peanut are still the best, though, even if I can live with regular.

Sorry for the repeat. It was sitting here claiming not to have posted and I hit the button a second time. Never did see it until I refreshed.

Don't worry about it Jay - the system seems to do that every now and again.
