This is what I've been striving for the last couple of months. This is why I've poured over books and informative magazines. This is why I've put in extra time and labor. This is why I've fussed over the small things. It all came down to this weekend.
Yep, it was so I could put in the vegetable garden! Granted, it is a couple of days early, but I believe we had our last frost Tuesday (or was it Wednesday?). It rained for 3 days, during which the high temperature was 48 degrees (we actually had one day where the high and low temps were 48). There was such heavy cloud cover that the house was down to 63 degrees at 5, in the evening, on Wednesday. In order to keep the temperature from slipping into the 50's, the heat was turned on until Friday afternoon.
However, Saturday before dawn, the temps had climbed well into the 50's outside, the ground had drained well enough, the wind was high enough to keep away the black flies and mosquitos, I was darn well going to plant! By the time I got out there (a bit after noon), it was in the high 60's and mostly sunny. By the end of it all, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was in the 70's.
I got everything from the greenhouse planted: tomatoes, peppers, onions, melons, pumpkins, marigolds and basil. I started peas and greenbeans soaking to be planted today, and WS did the sAme for his corn.
Today, besides getting in the seeds that are currently soaking, I will put down newspaper mulch and cover it with straw to help keep the moisture in the ground and the weeds down to an acceptable level.
Yep, all that preparation and hard work to culminate in only two days worth of fun - but eating the fruits (and vegetables) of my labors will be totally worth it!
You really put time, thought, and effort into your garden. You deserve to eat well! (I spent 33 seconds, this morning, pulling crab grass. Does that count?)

Your 33 second was probably more preductive than all my time this spring! I will explain later.
