Went to BIL's place for dinner last night. Had great ham, potatos and asparagus (green beans for those who have less refined tastes). We took cheesecake with homemade freezer jams (strawberry and blueberry) for toppings.
While there, watched the news and saw this heap big blaze - you know it was serious when it hits the national news! They were worried about the woods and portions of the town going up - the wind was high (still is) and snow is gone - good job to all the firefighters for getting under control as quickly as they did!
Fires/wild fires seem to be a huge issue, this year. Even here. The other evening, we got fogged in. When we opened the door, it turned out that the "fog" was smoke--from fires about 30 miles away, near Winfield. Wichita (and, probably, Derby) exceeded the safe air standards that day--much worse than Los Angeles!
You're still in good standing with the volunteer fire department, I take it?
The meal sounds delicious. There isn't any part of it that I could possibly have passed up. Glad you had such an enjoyable time with BIL's family.
