I spent a couple hours out yeasterday cleaning up some of the flower gardens and re-mulching a few places (got plenty more to go, but it is a start). There are actually a couple things blooming:
iris reticulata (Cantab) is only 6-8" tal
Crocus - out in the middle of a pathway because chipmunks so nicely re-decorated for me a couple of years ago.
Holly Berries - technically not flowers and technically they are from last year - but they still provide nice color for the beginning of spring!
Rose leaf bud with silver thorns - very striking
Then there is the bird that has visited our birdfeeder for the last week or so:
Although hard to see, there is a purple finch peeking out from behind the No-No feeder.
Looking forward to more birds and blooms as the season progresses!
It's a good thing you told me the finch was there. I'd have missed it! Beautiful, beautiful flowers and berries! Excluding the henbit and assorted tiny weeds that I suspect of being herbs of some sort, and one-half of our cherry tree, absolutely nothing is abloom, here. Everything got nipped in the bud in that last freezing rain/sleet/snow storm that hit us in March. Everything was so early, this year, that they got caught! Since last year produced a bumper crop of blossoms on all of our trees, I shan't whine. Thanks for sharing your beauty with us!
