Being busy with pet sitting, minor crises and family business, posting has been at the bottom of my list.
Too, with the Japanese Beetle infestation, there are no flowers to take pictures of. However, there was a Double Delight rose flower that seemed immune to the first wave of JB's, so I clipped it to put in a vase. As I was carrying it to the house, this popped out:
I believe it is a crab spider, also known as a goldenrod spider. It could certainly be the same spider that I took pictures of several days earlier, just in its white form.
This gal (I assume female as it was larger than the link shows for males was unintimidated and looked like she was ready to defend her flower from all comers.
WS was kind enough to help me take pictures by bringing the camera and then holding the flower at different angle. This angle was particularly striking as the red stripes are very evident.
After taking her pictures, I took the flower back over the the same rose bush and let her climb off before placing the flower in a vase in the living room.
Shadow thought Karen made the table cover for him.
Yesterday i found that the Prairie Fire Crabapple was broken in half. We had had high winds (and 1/4" of rain) the night before, but nothing else had been damaged. When I inspected it closer, I found that the leader had a hole in it from insects:
Yes, this is a crappy picture, but you can clearly see the hole in the lower, left quadrant. The tree is literally over-run with ants (a bunch attacked while I was taking this one picture). I don't know if the ants made the hole or they are just taking advantage (everyone says ants don't kill plants, but they always seem to be around when plants/trees are one their way out). So, Prairie Fire will have to be taken out. Naturally, it is on the top tier of that area, so it will be a pain in the butt. Then I will have to find something to replace it.
So, in summary, we have a photogenic spider, a comfy cat, a little bit of rain, and a dying tree at the Bogie household.
