Yesterday I saw a broad-winged hawk alight in a tree just behind the deck. I grabbed the camera and got a couple of pictures (to bad the zoom doesn't go very high so they won't be close-ups), then grabbed the binoculars to truly identify the bird. As I lowered the binocs to look at the birdbook, he flew off, then another flew off from the same tree, in a different direction. Extrememly cool!

I have been busy digging and planting, digging and planting - planting trees and shrubs in the area where the fruit trees were formerly planted. For as much work as I've done, I haven't accomplished much. Much of the digging has been to get rid of the top layer of grass/weeds and their roots. I did get a couple of trees in, all the holy, a rose and a hydrangea planted in that area. I got word Saturday that an order that I had placed in February has been shipped. To be honost, I had forgotten I had placed the order. Guess I know what I'm doing next weekend.

In addition to working in the area formerly of the fruit trees, I got 3 roses planted in another area. I re-potted 3 roses (I bought them as slips and need to let them get bigger before making them compete with other plants), raked garden beds, and cut back roses (and other plants). Most of that was done between Wednesday and yesterday. I need a day off to recover from my days off!

I got some of my planters filled with annuals yesterday then placed them in the greenhouse. We were supposed to get frost this morning and I didn't want to waste all my hard work.

That is it from the gardening world of bogie, at least for a day or two, until the plants arrive in the mail and I have to get them potted up or planted.
