This Christmas was just as it should be, nice and relaxing. We both, amazingly, had gotten all our shopping done well ahead of time, so distribution of gifts was all that was needed.
Friday, we went to Henniker and dropped off gifts for Teri, Kenny, Bonnie and Joe. That group was going down to Massachusettes for the weekend to see family, so we had our Christmas visit a bit early.
Saturday was our normal routine in the morning; dump run, hardware store and breakfast. WS took a nap (we had a huge breakfast at the diner) then headed over to Cook's Garage for a Christmas party. I piddled around the house and got a bit of reading done. WS didn't stay at the party overly long before coming home and recording some albums onto CD for me.
Sunday we got groceries then piddled some more (he in the shed, me in the house). Jimmy and his latest love interest came over and we exchanged gifts, had pizza, watched some PBR on TV and had some good conversation.
Christmas day, WS never got out of his sweats (not a bad thing). We opened gifts and got some great stuff! An all-in-one measuring cup (a really cool find - there is a story there, but it's boring so I won't bother telling it), a singing bird book (awesome) some work clothes for WS (he's always in need of those), hand towels (very nice), a spatula and stuff that is always the right color and size. WS and I had already exchanged gifts a week or two before. He got me a HotShot (and had it installed in my truck) and I got him a Leatherman and a headlamp.
We called family throughout the day. We spent so much time on the phones that we had to space out the calls so the phones could recharge (never had that problem with the old corded phones). As I was talking to Cop Car and HH, Karen showed up. WS kept her entertained until I got off the phone. We exchanged gifts with her and tried to get her to eat diner with us (leftover ham from Thanksgiving, cheesy greenbeans, scalloped potatoes and whole wheat bread straight from the oven), but she had already had 2 large meals with various segments of her family. I did send ham and squash bread home with her though.
After she left, we finished watching the Dallas game and started watching the Miami game. Ws had to go to bed shortly after the kick-off since he had to work today. I have this week off (plant shutdown) so stayed up and watched a bit more before I turned into a pumpkin and called it a night.
A very relaxing weekend for the Holiday - just what we needed!
