When last we left our intripid heros, they were trying to get a new bike tire. It's a really good thing I didn't hold my breath on getting a call, because it didn't happen. WS went to pick it up at noon and by the time he got back, got it on and we packed up the bike, it was about 1:30.
Jimmy and his latest companion went with us. She had to stop at a particular bank in Concord, so that is where we headed. Then, Jimmy being Jimmy, we had to stop and get some lunch (not a bad thing since "lunch" was the first thing WS had eaten that day). By the time we got on the road, it was late.
We headed up towards northwestern NH to visit a few places we haven't been to before, but by the time we got there, they were closed. Not being people that are inclined to waste really nice weather, we roade around for a bit, then headed off for Plymouth to find a place to stay.
Sunday arrived and we headed to the Polar Ice Caves. I had been there before when CK had been up for a visit - when she was 13 (translates to a few years). I don't remember it having all the stuff that we saw there this time. We spent about 3 hours going thru the different areas, then jumped on the bikes and went to Ruggles Mine. This was a cool place to visit, but at $20/person it was a bit on the expensive side. If there was more to it than collecting rocks (we have plenty of feldspar, mica and quartz thank you) to take home, maybe I would think differently. But it was $8/person cheaper for us to visit the ice caves (and we spent twice as much time there), so over-priced is how we saw it. The souvenier shop was also very expensive; something I had seen at the ice caves was over twice as much at the mine.
Ah well, we still had a good time. After stopping for dinner (no lunch for us), we got home about 7:30. After unloading the bike, bringing in the dogs (who acted like we had been gone for weeks instead of 29 hours), and unwinding, bedtime came a bit later than we wanted.
Then we had to get up and go to work on Monday, after being off for 10 days - a bit of whining went on that morning!
I'm assuming that the dogs did the whining as I cannot imagine your or WS's doing it--lol. Sounds like a fine, if belated, mini vacation.

sounds like a lot of fun even if it was expensive.

Uh, yeah, sure, it was the dogs doing the whining.
