Since the KCForum abruptly shut its proverbial doors, I have been interested in finding a new forum to participate in. I thought that perhaps the KCGlobalForum would do nicely when I heard about it the other day.
I went to check it out today, and from the main site it looks pretty good. Their logo "A site for sore eyes" is impressive sounding too. Then, I clicked on the forum link and found much to my horror (and bemusement) that the forum is in black, with white writing, with tiny type and evil colors running rampant. If I concentrate very hard, I can tell what stuff is, but I don't need that headache. This is one of the hardest to read websites I have run into in a long time.
I didn't bother registering after I clicked on a few of the forum subjects and found that they were just as hard to read. I am thinking that whoever designed the site has no clue what KC does to ones eyesite, and neither does whoever is running it. After going back to the main page, and looking at the site meter at 665 visitors (and that wonderful "As Seen On TV), I decided that this has to be someone's idea of a joke and/or money making scheme.
Thanks but no thanks, the website just makes sore eyes as far as I am concerned!
There are some web sites that are just not worth the aggravation. Sorry that the KC site had to be one of them. Good luck in finding a site that does much better!

Hi!
I totally agree, that the forum you mentioned has a really ugly and uncomfortable and bad layout, but I am sure that it's one of the biggest collections of rare informations concerning keratoconus and its treatments in the world.
Espeacially concerning all the different new treatments that are not so popular like penetrating keratoplasties etc.
So if you are interested in opening your horizon of the keratoconus you should have a closer (and of course if you want also critical) look on the site...
But dont base your judgement just on the layout and the colors.

Hi,
The global forum I find is just great to look at, I think everyone is different and not everyone can be kept happy.
The content is just fantastic as well ...KC Global's contribution to the KC community has been vast! with out taking a single donation!
I've been using the site since the begining and feel much more secure about the future! due to the kc global site.
The stats feature on the site is free if used with the "As seen on TV" banner (that's the reason it's there)... it's all explained on the stats links when i clicked on them, not money making at all.
All in all KC Global is fun, happy and forward thinking!
I could not ask for much more ...really!

Down boy Down! The person that is betting you is a reader of this site, not the author. And no, I don't care that you disagree with me.
However, if I have a hard time reading it, then I can't imagine that it is any better for those that have more severe KC.
I see that the most posts on any one topic is 43 - that leaves a bit to be desired when you use such terms as "vast". I also see according to the stats counter that there have been less than 2,500 visitors (not even 1,900 more since I last looked), that is a trifle for a "global" forum. Both of these low numbers lead me to believe that many people don't return, and the difficulty in reading the site would most likely be ther reason why.

If you have a hard time reading it so you think that means it must be like that for everyone... You are presuming a lot!
And "vast" was ment in terms of what has been done with working with the medical field to bring treatment like mini-ark and x linking from Italy and Germany to those who are not english speaking and have patients who has got their vision back with-out contacts or transplants! Now that is support! and the spectrum of different users from different countries that visit the site as seen on the map of users.
I think you should get better fitting contact lenses... that may help with seeing better site that the majority can!

Mike, I am glad your sight is good enough to read and use the site. I am even glad that it is useful for you. But just because it is useful to, and readable by, you, it is not necessarily so for other people.
My KC distorts my vision and also makes it to where my sight cannot be corrected to 20/20, so I know I don't see as well as the general populace. However, that is the point; as a person with KC, the site is supposed to be aimed toward me and usefull to me - but it is not.

Bogie,
I am only adding this comment because the strange thing is that the forums like which the kcenter had was harder to read for me, yet i am sure that others found it easy, I still read on that board even though. I was delighted with the kc global forum when i found it.
All that i'm saying is that we are all different, which is what i said from on my first message here.
You or I can not do nothing to change anything like this, like i could not change the kcenter board. Those forums are generic for everyone, what works for one people does not work for another.
Another things is that the counter was just added recently oso does not show the full amount of visitors, and it is a young site, for which we should try to support i feel.
Best Wishes, Mike.

Well, Mike, apologies for mistaking you for your doppelganger. As a long-time reader of this blog, neither "Markus" nor "Mike" was familiar to me, the two comments were in similar veins, and the formatting of the two comments was very similar. As there are no casinos in the area, at which I may squander my money, I couldn't resist the bet. Do not, however, blame Bogie for my cheekiness. The shrapnel should come to Kansas, rather than New Hampshire!
On a serious note: I agree that it would be great if each of us had perfect vision and saw what every other person could see. As that is not the case, we each decide when it's worth the bother/pain of deciphering various sites. When we cannot decipher a site, it behooves us to let it be known. After all, the site manager/owner cannot read our minds to know that color/format combinations are difficult for us. Obviously, If the manager/owner finds it worth their while to try to accommodate the individual reader's "weakness(es)", that is very thoughtful. If it isn't worth the effort, that, also obviously, is their business. It just may mean one (or more) fewer reader(s).

The topic was about color and Markus was agreeing with you, so his post was not the same as mine.
And not even the president can keep everyone happy!
Best wishes, Mike.

I'm tired of this, so I've closed down the comments.
