The first issue I got of the TV Guide's newest format, I thought "Cool, larger print." But once I went thru it, I decided it was an absolute dud. Weekend daytime listings have to be gotten on-line (what of those that don't have compuers or internet access?) The big sports happenings, which used to be grouped on one page (and their individual listings) are scattered about by day. What if I don't know what day the Fighting Irish are playing the Bulldogs? - I have to go thru the sports listings day by day. And if they are playing anytime but primetime, forget it, you won't see it.
WS had turned on the TV and found a movie he was getting into. Wanting to know the name of it, he naturally picked up the TV Guide. After searching and finding 113 pages of gossip (basically) and about 7 pages of TV listings (none of which included Sunday pre-prime-time listings), he gave up.
If I have to go to my Sunday newspaper's TV Weekly to find the name of the mlovie, what need do I have for the TV Guide?
The answer is very simple: NONE.
Even in the old format of TV Guide, the trash-to-info ratio was too high for me. Your dad subscribes, but I use the section out of Sunday's paper--if I remember to save it!
