At 10:30 last night, just before I went to bed, it had not started raining yet. Oh sure, it had misted most of the late afternoon and evening, but there was no accumulation in the trusty rain gage.
Last night, TWC said maybe up to 1/2" for the night and up to 1" today. As of 6:30 this morning, we had 1 1/2" of rain. As of 10PM tonight, when I emptied the rain gage, we had 5.5" of total rainfall. The gage doesn't hold any more than that, so we might have had more.
The rain is not letting up and TWC has predicted up to 2" tonight and 2" tomorrow. It is supposed to rain until next weekend.
Anyone surprised that the state is under a flood watch?
Unfortunately, from flood watch you granite staters have gone to watching flood. I hope you don't slide down the hill, don't you?

We have done amazingly well. The ground was so dry, and the rain nice and steady, that most of the rain was soaked up. Yesterday morning the ditch out front hardly had any water running thru it and even the stream at the top of the hill was calm.
I've been taking care of H&H's cat. They live in a flat are in our town, and they didn't even have any standing water when I went over yesterday afternoon.
I think most of the flood waters and mud slides came from areas that had heavy bands of rain go thru where the water didn't have time to soak into the ground.
