From the Deering police log from last week's Speak Out (the local village gossip sheet): a call to [Bogies] road for shots fired.
The call was made on a weekend day. Must have been the new people on the hill calling, idiots.
Why do I say that? Because it is hunting season. Okay, so it's not quite rifle season for deer - but a bunch of my neighbors are sighting in their guns (rifles and muzzleloaders) and target practicing, which means gunshots are heard on a fairly regular basis.
Gunshot goes on about this time every year, so it shouldn't elicite any calls to the cops. Then there are one or two neighbors that target shoot in their back yards every couple of months, so gunshot is not all that uncommon when it isn't hunting season. Only someone that is new to the neighborhood (or town, or even just away from the city - I know that all the small town around here are the same way) would get panicky about it and call the cops.
Learning experience for them anyway.
Are these the same folks that installed the alarm system in their house before they moved in? If so, I'm not surprised.

Actually, I believe it someone else. The alarm system people have been here long enough to know how things are around here.
However, there are two new sets of people in the area; one bought an older home and one built a new home. I'm fairly certain it was someone from one of those households.
