Last week, I participated in a Scarborough survey. Correction, two weeks ago I participated in the survey by phone, then they sent me a questionaire to fill out last week. This was a 2-part questionaire, but the only part that is of any interest (in a blogging sense) is the part where I kept track of what television I watched during a 7 day period.
The week started on Saturday, 7/30 in which I watched 1 hour of television - a CSI rerun on the Man Channel (Spike).
Sunday was the big day of watching TV as I watched the weather, local news, nightly news, AFV, CSI and PBR. That covered from 5:30 until 10:00. Actually, a lot of that I watched while I was reading and making dinner, but I actually did pay half-assed attention to the TV, so I put them down.
Monday I watched the local news and the nightly news (while doing other stuff), took 1/2 an hour off then watched Modern Marvels (which was cool) and All Star BBQ (don't ask me why!).
Tuesday, I watched the local news.
Wednesday and Thursday I watched absolutely no TV (WS did - but I did not).
Friday I watched and hour of CSI (man channel again) and Sanford and Son on TV Land.
That is not representative of the TV I usually watch - I normally don't "watch" nearly as much as I did on that Sunday (in fact, the TV was just turned on by WS for the 1st time today - and I'm downstairs on the computer for the 1st time since sometime last week - so I'm obviously not watching TV). Monday too, was a long day of watching TV.
Something tells me that even though for me, there was a lot of TV watching last week, it's not nearly representative of the norm. I probably watch a bunch of stuff that most other people don't watch too. That's okay, it was much closer to society norms than the other booklet that asked about shopping, clothing buying (no I haven't bought any shoes or purses in the last week, month or 3 months), and movie theater attending (not in the last 10 years or so).
I'll bet they never ask me to fill out their surveys again!
Where did I fail as a mother? (Don't answer that! I'm happier in my ignorance!)

Let's see....I think we see about one movie a year, maybe two in an unusual year. We'd rather wait to see movies on cable or DVD, rather than paying theater prices.
I haven't bought a purse in several years, and most likely won't need to for some time.
Clothes, well, I gave in and bought some summer clothes this year. You probably need to take in all of yours after digging out the walk way!

Cop Car - I think you failed when you put books into my hands! Even if WS has the TV on, I am more likely to be reading a magazine (working on Discover Magazine now) or a book than watching the tube.
Buffy - We rarely have 2 hours to put together to see a movie. I taped a vampire movie off the Sci-Fi channel a couple of weeks ago and we've watched 45 minutes of it. I figure in another 2-3 weeks, we'll watch some more of it. Summer time we are just so darned busy that getting dinner in before we go to bed is a challenge!
