WS and I spent a good while yesterday afternoon looking for signs of Indy. We tramped thru the woods looking under rocks and deadfall in case she had gotten hurt and had holed up. WS checked the sheds in case he had inadvertantly closed her in one - but no luck. We also checked the ditches at the side of the road as well as the culverts.
If it was Tory or Shadow that had been gone, I wouldn't worry - they are mainly outside cats and are outdoor savy (and they have each been gone for a couple of days before). However, Indy is mainly a house cat (by her choice) and is rarely outside for more than a couple hours. She will only usually go out during dusk, when there are bugs attracted to the house lights that she can chase. Overnight is the maximum she'll stay out and then she is pawing madly at the slider to be let in when we get up in the morning. Even when she is outside, she hangs out mostly on the deck. I have never seen her actually get further than 10 feet away from the house. In short, she is not an outdoor savy cat.
Tory and Shadow have spent the last two nights inside (unsual for them at this time of year). I'm assuming there are fishers or coyotes in the area - they come and go - so the cats don't want to be out after dark.
The bad part is that Wednesday night, before going to bed, I looked out the slider and didn't see any cats on the deck. I thought to myself that I should call Indy in, but she had been out a couple of nights in the last week and she was probably happily chasing bugs under the deck, so I didn't.
Guess I shoulda.
Oh no, you must be heartsick. I'm still hoping she'll show up ...

It really makes you have a bad feeling at the pit of your stomach. It's only human to think, "I should have...." but you know that your pets always get the best from you and WS. You've always looked out for your pets and tried to make them happy while doing that. I'm still hoping, for Indy, but it isn't looking good. Lots of love to you.

Don't give up hope yet, they have unique cat-abilities. I hope you'll be seeing her soon. I worry about our cats too. I know there are lots of critters, but damn, they love being outside.
