Having had a woderful visit with the family, yesterday we drove up to the Salina area to see The Wonderful Spouse's family. We are staying and D&D's house, which is out in the middle of farm country.
This morning I wasn't actually going to post, but get online and catch up reading others' blogs. But, WS came in and told me to look out the window in a darkened room (this one is lighted), and I saw the most interesting sight; an owl hunting bugs on D&D's driveway.
D&D have a light that stays on all night, which I would guess draws planty of bugs. The owl is staying on the ground and running or flying over to snatch up particularly tasty looking (or sounding) bugs. The lighting is too black & white to catch any distinguishing markings, so I can't look up what kind of owl it is, but it's pretty good size.
Who would have thunk - the terror of the night skies for mice, moles and other rodents - and this fellow is going after bugs!
He must have been very hungry!
