EZ as 1-2-3

I received the router and network card on Thursday (if your confused check out this post). Naturally, since I wasn't in a big hurry to receive the stuff, it got here quicker than expected (as opposed to things I bought for Christmas).

I tried to install the network card, which went fine until Win98 couldn't find the CAB file it needed to from its own files (not off the hardrive or the CD). After doing a bit of research, I decided the best thing to do was to reformat the hard drive and do a clean install (I probably should have done that first as I have no idea what has been in contact with the hardrive before I got it). I formatted C, then shut down the computer, removed the dial-up card and installed 10/100 ethernet card.

Everything went smoothly once I re-installed Windows 98 to my great relief.

Blogosphere in the News

We were watching the 6:30 Evening News with Peter Jennings (who I don't think was actually present) Thursday night and they featured bloggers as the people of the year. They featured the big, well-known names (I don't plan on linking to them so won't name names) but also featured a young blogger that is 11 years old. Well, that was cool.

But, I had to laugh when the reporter said ". . . in what is now called the blogosphere."

That sounded to me as if they thought that "Blogosphere" was a new word. I have a news flash for you people, it's been called the blogospere for longer than I have been reading blogs (about 3 years), much less blogging.

I'm guessing the next revelation will be the "new" word for 2005 - Blogoversary - heh.

Congrats

Lacy, the Wonder Borzoi (she who went to Westminster last year) had puppies about a week ago. Greg finally got a picture up to give us a peek at some future champions.

Mover and Shakers

We survived helping Karen move yesterday. I arrived at her place a little after 9 in the morning and immediately started packing boxes. This woman, whom we love dearly, just can't seem to get rid of anything and collects everything. It took 4 good sized boxes and about 1 1/2 hours for me just to empty 4 shelves full of figurines, decorative dishes, vases etc.

The 4 shelves were so full of stuff that you couldn't really just focus on one thing - it was more a blur of colors and shapes. The plates and platters in the back of the cabinet were not even visible thru all the stuff in front of them. Every one of those items was fragile so had to be wrapped well to prevent breakage. And that was just one small section of the stuff that needed to be moved.

The Wonderful Spouse showed up an hour or so later (he had gone to the dump and bought some tarps to cover the trailer). Karen was not expecting anyone but us to help her move so I was delighted when not only WS showed up, but he also managed to bribe Chris, our neighbor, to come along for the fun. Yipee! All the heavy lifting was not just going to be done by myself and the Wonderful Spouse!
