This has been a singularly unexciting week. The biggest happenings so far is how the weather forecasters have really blown it – both on local stations and the Weather Channel.
Sunday night thru Monday morning, it was supposed to sleet and snow. A nice wintry mix was on its way but it was supposed to warm up Monday afternoon and turn to a steady rain. We did get freezing rain Sunday night, but by the time we got up to go to work, the temps had risen quite a bit and it was raining – with no trace of ice left.
Monday day, it did not rain as was forecast, although it was overcast. Tuesday morning we were supposed to get snow starting in the wee hours. When we got up it was raining. Both the local station and the Weather Channel changed the forecast to rain all morning and the low temp staying above freezing – the temp suddenly dropped and it started snowing as we left for work.
For Wednesday, the forecasters of both stations had given up and told us that we would have some sort of precipitation. The morning commute might be okay, because the form might be rain, or the commute might be a nightmare because of snow and sleet – BUT, we would definitely be getting precipitation starting in the early morning hours and lasting on-and-off thru the day.
So naturally, it was a dry morning and both channels changed the forecast to just a partly cloudy day. Yep, you guessed it, it started snowing later in the morning.
Somewhere, someone is getting a real laugh out of all this!
