Tuesday, when I left for work, it was -1 degrees and still falling. When I got home from work, it was -1 degrees and falling. I was sure happy to see a little variety when I got up Wednesday and it was -7!
It warmed up quite nicely Wednesday - up to 20. It is supposed to fairly nice (teens and 20’s) until tomorrow morning when we will once again see negative-numbered lows and single-digit highs. They are projecting -12 for Saturday morning.
WS can tell when the cold weather has finally struck because I start blow drying my hair in the morning; Tory and Shadow only go outside for about 5 minutes at a time (Shadow actually refused to go out at all those two coldest mornings – he’s not as stupid as Tory apparently is); and the dogs take only a couple of minutes to do their business – not lingering to bark at any movement that catches their eyes.
Even with the cold weather, we have put the dogs out in the pen while we are at work. They stay snug in the deep pile of straw in the doghouse and don’t seem any worse for the experience. I’m, just glad that the really cold morning will happen on the weekend, so they will be inside (and would be left in even if it was a weekday, but over the weekend we don’t have to worry about them leaving a mess).
The dogs need their own greenhouse with a kennel run!

We've had similar weather here. Two days ago we had about an inch of snow, tonight we're supposed to get another dusting of snow, and then Friday night into Saturday our area should get about six more inches. I plan to hibernate this weekend. Our cat is doing the same as yours....shakes his paw when he discovers how cold it is, and comes right back in. He's cranky about being stuck inside. We'll both be happy when it warms up!
