We had a Great Christmas! I got up early for pet-sitting duties, got on the computer for a couple of hours while WS was watching staring at the news, then we went back to bed for a while. We finally got up, started a fire, piddled around a bit, then settled down about 11 to open presents.
We will not go hungry, nor freeze to death even if every grocery store closes for the the next couple of month, all propane/oil dealer go out of business tomorrow, or if every tree and stick of wood disappears from the state!
The Wonderful Spouse received long underwear, sweat shirts for work, sweat pants for lounging at home and tube socks (he goes thru a lot because he has to wear steel-toed boots at work). I got several heavy sweaters appropriate to wear at work (and I must say that Cop Car and HH were very good at following my precise specifications for such clothing!).
There were cookies, fudge (about 20 pounds - no lie), home-made salsa and beef jerky. Huh? Salsa and beef jerky, what kind of Christmas food is that? I am a big jerky fan and we both go thru lots of salsa in a year, so it was much appreciated! It is great getting salsa that other people have made because of the different spices and ingredients they use.
WS recieved some of that green stuff that is always the right size and never goes out of fashion which I am sure he will spend on the sled. I gave him the Road Rage cards and heated hand grips for the 4-wheeler (the kind that hooks into the battery and not the electrical system).
I got a gift certificate for Amazon.com (which has already been spent - exactly the thing I needed). WS got me a new winter coat, which again fit all the criteria that I set (longer than most ski jackets - I hate the back riding up when I sit in the truck - and NOT a bright color).
After opening presents, I ran off to perform pet-sitting duties. I was taking care of The Girls (2 golden retrievers) and took them some Greenies for a Christmas treat. When I got home, I called Dudette (and got to talk to Wichi Dude and CK at the same time) then called Cop Car and HH. Shortly after getting off the phone, Jim and His Current Girlfriend (HCG) showed up with a beautiful, soft blanket featuring a motorcycle and a hawk. Then Harry and Heather showed up with home-made lemon and poppy-seed bread.
At times there were 3 seperate convesations going on, but we had a great time visiting with them. Shortly before 5, I left for pet-sitting again. When I got back, Jim and HCG had left, but Karen had shown up so we still had a housefull.
Everyone left by 7:30 so we turned on the Chiefs game and got to see the 4th quarter. Damn, what a game! We were screaming at the TV the whole time they were playing.
What a great way to spend Christmas; good food, fantastic friends and a great football game - it doesn't get any better than that!
Sounds like your Christmas turned out well. Ours certainly did and thanks for your (Bogie's and WS's) part in making it so. Uh...What are "Road Rage cards"?
