When Cop Car and her Hunky Husband came to visit last weekend, she brought along a manila envelope filled with clippings and such (along with the other things she brought). I had set it aside, meaning to got thru it later. However, I meant to go thru it while they were still here, not a week later!
Anyway, I found it exactly where I had left it and decided that I had to check out what was inside. The first thing that caught my attention was that the envelope was heavy, so I reached to the bottom and found a plastic bag with tiny silverware in it. Since the bag was marked with my initials, I assume it was my baby silverware. What a neat thing to find! I have placed it in the cabinet with my grandmother's china (CC says she's not really sure that it is Grandma's china. It might be Great-Grandma's or some that Grandma got somewhere else - but Grandma gave it to me, so I think of it as hers).
The next thing that fell out (that was not paper) was an etch-a-sketch keyring. How COOL! For those not in the know, I tend to collect keaychains so I am overjoyed and getting this gift!
Included in the package were several comic strips that had obviously reminded Cop Car of us; some were about bikers, some about pets or "big cats" (and the giant roll of string that they must play with) and some about life as a kid before video games.
Additionally, there were several articles taken out of magazines or newspapers; articles about pet-sitters, library cats, service dogs and corrective eye surgery (unfortunately it doesn't do those with KC any good - but we can always hope that one day something will become available). Last but not least, there was a recipe for Chocolate Goody Bars - mmm, sounds good!
Damn, I wish I had remembered to go thru the envelope while they were here!
Well, now you've gone through the envelope, Bogie--stretching our visit out just a little bit. Wasn't that fun?
Thanks so much for the wonderful hospitality that you and WS extended to us. Those family moments are priceless and you two are treasures. HH and I are so looking forward to seeing you and WS, again!!!
Pop looked better than we expected (stronger), but he's still quite weak. We think that he may have just had some morphine when we got there as he had to stop to think of words that he wanted to use. (Heck! I've been doing that for years! Just a few minutes ago, while leaving a comment for Buffy, I couldn't think of the word "spring", so had to structure the sentence around it.)
