Yesterday I was given the mission of getting new tires for the Wonderful Spouse's motorcycle/tractor/whatever trailer. Now I know nothing about this trailer except that sometimes it hangs out at our place and sometimes it hangs out at Jim's place. Also, according to WS, it tracks really well.
So he dumps both tires into my truck and gives me all the info I need but I'm not really sure where to get them. Stupid me, I didn't realize that National Tire Warehouse and Battery has them (I have never looked at the tires, for all I knew, I would have to get them at a bicycle shop). Anyway, WS was nice and didn't laugh at me too hard when I asked that question.
So, I went to the NTWB store in Hillsboro (yes, I know that sounds weird after all you can't get clothes or hardware in the town, but there is a NTWB there). I removed the tires from the truck and hauled them inside. Told the guy I needed them replaced, they go on a 3,000 GW trailer and we want new stems and the tires balanced.
"What kind of trailer is it?" he wants to know. Hell, I don't know, it has a flat bottom, a tool box and two wheels.
"Is it a horse trailer?" he explores further (probably thinking I'm the biggest idiot this side of the Rockies - and call me stupid, I figure that a horse trailer + horse has to go more than 3,000 pounds). I explained it was for hauling bikes and tractors and other stuff that was broke down - but not horses.
"Does it have wheel wells?" Look guy, I have no idea. I don't use it and I don't even care if it has wheel wells, pin striping or anything else. It's my husband's and I'm sorry I ever agreed to do this for him. Anyway, I'm not sure why you care if it has wheel wells, just put the same type of tire on each of those wheels.
Turns out that they don't have that size tire, so will have to go 1 size larger (or something to that effect), and there would be about a 1/4" difference in height. I just told him to go ahead and put those on, that I was sure that they would be fine.
Fortunately WS agreed they would be fine when I told him about it. We'll see when he puts them on.
oooh... that's dynamite, girl. I'm sure you call him WS for a reason, and I'm a WS myself, but if they don't fit right..... it's gonna be your fault.... trust me.

I got lucky and they fit when he put them on last night (although I got crap for not doing it for him). However he is using it to haul a bit of weight today, so the final verdict has yet to come in.
He gets the grief for so many things that go wrong (trust me, just by living in close proximity to him, things go wrong that would never happen in real life - ask the neighbor), that I don't mind being the goat if there is a problem this time.
