We got a call on Friday night that my new wedding ring was back from being sized. The call was quite a surprise as I had been told that it would be somewhere after the 27th. We went into town yesterday to pick it up, and the guy that was helping me looked at my reciept and asked if I was sure that they had called.
Yes, I was sure.
He responded that he was surprised because they never got stuff back early. But he checked anyway, and sure enough, my ring was there. Then he looked at the size and said he thought there was some mistake. "Why?" I asked. This ring, he explained, was sized down to a 4 1/2 and a lot of children don't have fingers that small.
I got him to hand my the ring, and voila', it fit perfectly. It is a nice tight fit at the knuckle, but has a just enough room to spare on my finger that it's not in danger of turning blue and falling off. Now I know why I lost my last ring; it was a size 5.
Heck, Bogie, my pinkie rings are size 4! Your dad gave me a new white gold wedding ring, recently, and I went up to a size 6 on it since I sometimes have to work at removing the size 5 1/4 that I've had since the 1960s. (My knuckles are getting larger with arthritis.) I will have to watch the new ring because, until it gets flattened out from being knocked about as I work in the yard, it really is too large; but, I'd just as soon not have to cut a ring off. On my right hand, the size 6 fits great!

My lovely wife also wears a 4 1/2. I've always found it terribly amusing to know that I can drop her ring (including the tiffany mount) through mine without it touching the sides.

(sigh) I have huge hands in comparison. I think my ring size is 7 1/2 or 8. My sisters and I all have long fingers. We should have been a family of piano players.

Buffy--I think Bogie gets her fingers from her dad's side of the family. Hunky Husband wears an 8 (loosely!) My MIL was a tiny lady who probably wore a 4 or 4 1/2.
As long as my fingers do their work, I shan't grumble about how large or how small they are.

I never realized Dad's fingers were so small (I believe WS's rings are 11's).

Ever thought about having WS weld it on for you. You could start a whole new trend in Extreme Body Modifications. And, you wouldn't lose the ring anymore.
Don't look at me that way, it was just a thought. A bad one, but a thought.

WS has threatened that if I lose this ring he will get one out of a bubblegum machine and then take a welder to it. You two obviously think too much alike!

Heck! Anything that WS got out of a bubblegum machine wouldn't be weldable--it'd go up in a puff of vapor!

Would that be my finger or the ring? If it was my finger, there wouldn't be any more problems because I couldn't wear a ring anyway.
