Sunday, the Wonderful Spouse got the storm door put in (which makes it a project that only took about a month). We had bought the new storm door, due to the demise of the old storm door, a week before Thanksgiving (actually 11 days before Thankgiving, but who's counting?). Every time WS has planned on installing it, the wind would kick up, which would make installation a bad idea (can you say para-sailing?). Anyway, all systems were "go" on Sunday, except for that little itty-bitty problem of temps in the teens - with installation requirements that guaranteed that you couldn't wear gloves. WS could work on it for about 7 minutes before running in and warming his hands by the woodstove for 5 minutes - it was slow going. So the storm door was installed, just in time for the, uh, storm.

The storm brought a little bit of everything (except warm weather): snow - a bit over a foot (except where it has been blown into drifts a couple of feet high - like right in front of the slider out to the deck); freezing rain - enough to put a crust of a couple inches on top of the snow; rain - just for good measure; and more snow - just a dusting. Oh, and did I mention the
wind howling gale? Spent 1 1/4 hours shoveling this evening. That produced a
mostly clear deck (3/4 of it anyway) and clear steps to the deck and to the house. Tomorrow I get to finish the deck and shovel the path to the dog pen, which obviously the dogs did not get to use today. WS got home so late that he didn't even get to do any snowblowing (although he did remove the burm at the bottom of the driveway before going to work), so hopefully he'll have reasonable hours at work tomorrow!

The drive in to work, Sunday night, was special, but at least there wasn't any traffic on the roads (literally). I stayed on main roads as I knew that plow drivers would concentrate on them. That adds a bit of time (not distance) to the drive, but in bad weather it is worth the ability to even tell
where the road is! The drive home was even more special after the sleet. But, it seems that people have dug their snow and ice driving abilities out of the boxes in the attic, and no one seemed to have much trouble.

Missy refused to go out Sunday until just before I left for work (about 8:15 PM). She was restless and edgy all day, I assume that the changing preassure was really upsetting her. The Nor'Easter started a couple hours before I left for work, which would presumably mean that the pressure stabilized somewhere in that time and she was okay after that. All I can say is, man, that is some bladder control that dog has! (definitely not complaining).
