Primaries Update

I reported last week that Manchester's new AA baseball team would be named the Primaries. The owners were shocked that potential fans did not like the name. They were even more shocked to find out that their fan base was angry because there was no consultation about the name to begin with (most teams hold some sort of contest to come up with new names). Their excuse for not allowing fan-based participation in the naming of the team was that there wasn't enough time for input to be digested before they needed to register the name and logo (which to be fair, was probably true - they just got the go ahead to move to NH only 6 months before the season starts).

Truck Parts

Dax Montana has a funny story about getting run over by his own truck. This reminds me a lot about the Wonderful Spouse and the old GMC.

Market Forces

Wesson's Grocery Store in Hillboro is quitting business. In this article, the owner admits that part of the problem is that Shaws (a large chain, much like Dillon's in the mid-west) is going to be opening. In the local paper (no link available), no such reason was mentioned. Only the fact that a "chain store" had moved into the same complex that Wesson's is in was given as a reason.

Television

I fully intend to tape Battlestar Galactica when it premiers on December 8, on the Sci-Fi channel. I remember the Gattlestar Galactica of old, and loved it then. I hope as a more mature person, the new, more mature version of the show (no, we are not talking about Pron - just a retooling of the characters, their motivations and the storylines) will be a delightfull.
