UPDATE: Went out for a smoke at 0200 and saw aurora borealis. Unfortunately, I'm in a fairly well lit area, so it is not too clear, but seems to be a mid to dark red with a few horizontal streaks. Also there are pictures taken 10/29 here. Link via someone else, but I don't remember who.

If Wishes Were Horses

I wish I could send the rain that we have recieved in the last couple of days to California. The 5" of rain that fell between the rains on Monday and the rains that fell today, would have certainly helped them out.

One of our salesmen lives in California (I'm not sure exactly where). The last we heard from him was on Tuesday. At that point, they were all packed up and ready to go when/if the evacuation order was given.

For tonight's listening pleasure, I have brought these albums CD's to work:

• Black Sabbath - Reunion (a 2-disc set containing live versions of their greatest hits, plus 2 new releases).


• AC/DC - For Those About to Rock (Yes, this is the one I thought about bringing last night)


• Metallica - Self titled album (I don't think there is a "bad" song on this one)


• Whitesnake - Greatest Hits (and a few I never heard of)


• And (get ready for it), C.W McCall - Greatest Hits (I can't get enough of Convoy, Wolf Creek Pass, The Silverton or Old Home Filler-Up An' Keep On A-Truckin' CAfe).

Despair

I found a great catalog in the mail today. It was from Despair, Inc. and has some great stuff.

How about some stickypads with sayings such as "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."

Or a notecard that says "It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face." (me, I just tell people I am exercising my face when they tell me that frowning takes more muscles than smiling.)

Or you can get a poster that says, "Sometimes the best solution to morale problems is just to fire all the unhappy people."

There is just too much good stuff at their website to list it all. I was actually thinking that Essay Canajun could use some of this stuff!

When is it Time to Let Go?

Greeblie points to an article, When Should You Put Your Dog Down. It is an excellent read, but it boils down to only the pet owner can make that decision. I have been asked for advise, but have always told the questioner that only s/he could decide.
