On my way home from work yesterday morning, about 2 miles from my house, I met a moose (no, we didn't exchange names - just phone numbers - LOL).
I was traveling the main road in town, at 50 MPH, came around a corner and found that a moose had just started crossing the road. He was in my lane and walking at a sedate pace. I stood on the brakes (fortunately I figured I had just enough room for stopping) when the moose did me a favor. He actually started to trot across the road.
That is not normal as I can attest to every other time I have met a moose on the road. They usually feel so invicible (hey, if I were that big, I would feel that way too), that you are lucky if they actually keep walking across the road; a lot of times they stop to stare at you before moving on.
I kept slowing down just in case he decided to come back out, while hoping that he would stop once he got across the road. Alas, he didn't stop and disappeared into the woods, so I didn't get that long of a look at him. Of course if he had stopped, I would have berated myself for not having a camera handy.
