Saturday Scruples

Here is this week's edition of Saturday Scruples (a bit late):

1. You're on a committee to award a $100,000 prize. On e of the two front runners is a former childhood friend whose career has eclipsed yours. Do you steer the prize to the other candidate? No, why would I do that to a friend (even a former friend). Now if it was a childhood enemy, of course I would steer the prize elsewhere (just kidding).

2. Your marriage is under strain. A friend recommends an illegal drug that expands your love, understanding and sensuality. Do you try it? No - not into drugs unless it is Ibuprofen. I don't want something to artificially adjust my personality - even as difficult as my personality is for other people to understand.

3. A friend gets drunk and confides that a month ago he injured a cyclist and didn't stop. Do you report your friend? This is a toughie. I would first urge my friend to fess up. If (s)he didn't do the right thing, then I think I would have to tattle.

Funny Tasting Beer?

There is a new beer coming out in honor of Funny Cide, the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner. I don't like beer, so I won't be trying it but I'm guessing that 2 out of 3 beers will be perfect, the 3rd one will be flat. (I know, that was just horrible, if you even understood what I was doing with that).

Survey Sez

I belong to NPD Online Survey, which oddly enough, conducts surveys. This week's survey was about hotdogs, in which my answers will probably leave someone scratching their head. I don't eat hot dogs, I like the smell of them cooking, but can't stand their taste (I will get a craving for a chile dog about once every 3 years, but will end up eating only 1/2 of it). The Wonderful Spouse on the other hand, takes hotdogs for lunch once a week or so. When I go to the store, I just tend to grab whatever hotdogs are easiest to get to, as long as they are all beef franks.

News Flatlanders Can Use

The Weekend Pundit is hosting the Flatlander News who's article starts out with non-natives trying to negotiate a 3-way stop. If 3 stop signs confuse people, just guess what a traffic circle does to people. Two sides have stop signs, one side has a yield and the other side has easy going the whole way. Usually traffic moves fairly smoothly when locals are the ones on the road.

Jim, over at Parkway Rest Stop has an interesting post on supposed questions and answers about Australia. Once again, no fact-checking done - it's funny whether it is based in fact or not!

101 Dalmations Years Ago

Buffy has posted a nice piece about statistics about life in the good old USA in the year 1902. I haven't fact checked any of it (and she got it in an email, which is usually makes it suspect), but I don't see anything flagrantly wrong. Although that $11.00 for a 3 minute phone call sure sounds wacked!

Blogothon

Don't forget tomorrow is the blogothon. If you haven't pledged to support a cause, please think about it. I am supporting both Laurance Simon and Greg. If helping to buy and ambulance, or supporting research for Keratoconus isn't your thing, there are several other charities being helped by various bloggers.

Anyhow, it should be interesting to see what is writen towards the wee hours by bloggers desperately trying to write something every 30 minutes!

Who make their living in customer service type fields (even if you hate it). Don't interupt the customer after every third word they say!
