I think I got

I think I got the template straightened back out. I don't have any idea how things got messed up because I wasn't even dealing with that part of the template - well, I hope I got it fixed.

We had a good

We had a good time at the Wonderful Spouse's business Christmas party (or should I be PC and say Winter Celebration - nah, it was a CHRISTMAS PARTY!). I had a few white russians and Spouse was drinking beer (but not too many) and we watched several of the people get schnockered. It's always fun to watch the drunks. One guy was expecially funny, he got up on a table and danced . . . until the bouncer showed up. Fortunately the bouncer just told him to get off the table, and he did, so we were spared the spectacle of seeing just how many bouncers it would have taken to get him out of there.

The hotel room was good except the pillows were hard, so I didn't sleep all that well - but hey, we didn't have to pay for it so I didn't care too much. After we got out of the hotel, we stopped and took care of my customer's animals (cat, bird, fish and hampster) then went home and took care of ours. We went and ordered Christmas presents (I can't say what they were because family members read this), which usually take 4-5 days to get. Of course this time they won't be in until 5 PM next Saturday - about 5 hours after our plane takes off. Guess we should have planned a little further ahead!

Its snowing again this morning (only supposed to get 3" this time). If I had set my alarm for 3:30 AM instead of PM, I might have beaten the begining of the storm all together. As it was, I woke up at 4:30, shortly after the snow had started. Fortunately, we got the driveway sanded and the wood rack filled on Sunday (it rained on Saturday making the driveway a nice skating rink - if you like to skate downhill anyway), so we are in good shape for this storm.

I got an email

I got an email link up there (not exactly where I wanted it, but it's there), now what's up with the other stuff - this really drives me nuts!

ARGGh! I swear I

ARGGh! I swear I didn't touch any of that stuff and not only is stuff messed up, but my email doesn't even show up - WTF!

It finally dawned on me

It finally dawned on me why the email about my blog has slowed down - when I changed templates, I never added the email link. So this is a test to make sure the link works.

What fun it was

What fun it was shoveling when I got home from work yesterday. We got somewhere between 8 and 10", but then the temps warmed up so each shovel full weighted about 3 tons. Well, once again I didn't have to use the workout room (which was a good thing since it is still filled with crud that hasn't been appointed its final place in the living room.

Tonight is the loving Spouse's company Christmas party. The company pays for all drinks, an expensive meal and motel rooms which are right across the parking lot from the club where the party is at. This is very thoughtful of them - nobody has to drive anywhere (until the next morning of course). Of course since I rarely have more than 2 drinks, it doesn't matter to me one way or another - however the Spouse, and others, will probably get a good buzz (not schnockered - just a good buzz), so we can't pass up the deal. I really don't like Christmas parties, because I'm not really a people-person and I have a hard time trying to converse with strangers. But it looks good for the Spouse so I put up with it.

I keep hearing about how this winter is supposed to be warmer than usual for the northern portion of the country (including most of the East Coast). Can't prove it by me; October was the coldest month recorded since the dawn of time for New Hampshire; November was about the same; and I am sure we have posted several record lows already for this month. Then there is the snow/ice build-up that has been here since October, which doesn't spell warm temps to me!

Got all the furniture

Got all the furniture moved yesterday. All the Knick-Knacks aren't in place, nor is the surround sound hooked in, but the project is most of the way done. I stopped at Circuit City yesterday and got a new cable (for the cable) and a signal booster - wow, what an amazing difference in the picture quality (which was already quite good - and better than our old TV).

When you get a chance get over to Jimspot's and read his Fiskwah response to this column . Between Jimspot's heartfelt response and a certain Rottweiler's witty response , I think my feelings on the subject have been pretty well covered.

8" of snow this morning when I got up to go to work, nothing like having to shovel the steps just to let the old dog out (of course the young ones didn't care, and just barrelled right thru the stuff). Still snowing like a bear when I left the house at 4:30. I got to work, and there's only a couple inches of snow here. Sigh, life is so unfair - those that live close to work don't have to drive through the crap that I have to go through (of course, I don't have to lock the doors to my house or my vehicle - I'm feeling much better already!).

We spent last night

We spent last night trying to get things in the living room moved closer to their final resting spots. This involved a lot of vacuuming and dusting, as well as grunt work moving furniture. The DVD player is now in it's permanent home in the new TV stand - and is even hooked up and working. Wow, what a picture when a DVD is playing! Today I will be packing up stuff in order to get ready for the next big push (and hopefully the last of the moving stuff around).

I was hoping to sleep in today (my last chance until after Christmas), but my wonderful Spouse let Prince out, then dissappeared into the bathroom for daily ablutions - which last for about 20 minutes (no, that doesn't include a shower). After about 5 minutes, Prince wanted in - only natural as he has short fur and it's cold outside. He, of course, started barking. And, of course, he picked the side of the house where the head-board to the bed is. I stood that for about 1 minute and decided I wasn't going to get back to sleep, so got up and let him in. I then proceeded to stomp around the house to let my Spouse know how displeased I was (very childish I know - I'm not the most gracious person at 4:30 AM). I finally let Spouse off the hook and accepted the offered apology. Good thing I have a hard time holding onto a grudge! Anyway, I'm feeling better now so it's time for my morning ablutions, then some shopping and then the moving/cleaning of "stuff".

3 degrees this morning

3 degrees this morning - oh well, I'm getting used to it. It actually feels warmer, more like 5 or 8 degrees. We are slowly working on getting our living room changed around to accommodate the new TV and TV stand (if you remember from an earlier blog - a 32" TV will not fit in our entertainment center). The only way this will all work in our living room, is to actually move every single thing that is in there (even the dogs' toy box). Our living room is not large, but now contains the following items: couch, coffee table, easy chair, straight-backed chair, 2 large end tables, a video cabinet, an old stereo cabinet (it still holds our albums), stand for the phone and the dogs' toy box. Every flat surface is covered with figurines, beanie babies, collectors plates, family photos and butt-ugly stuff that has been given to us over the years (which we would never take down because the gift-giver might be offended). Oh, and by-the-way, nothing can be within 24" of the wood stove.

We think we have figured out the basic plan. We will keep the entertainment center to hold all of the stereo equipment. We will place the albums from the old stereo cabinet into the spot where the old TV was (yes, in the entertainment center). We will get rid of the old stereo cabinet (I feel the need for more shelves on the walls to hold everything that is on top of the stereo cabinet). The video cabinet may, or may not, need to be relocated to another room (yeah, like we have any room elsewhere).

The new TV/stand and the entertainment center will go where the couch, coffe table, phone stand and video cabinet currently reside. The couch (and coffee table) will go where the stereo stand, easy chair, straight-backed chair and 1 end table currently reside - I'm hoping the video cabinet will fit behind the coush, as the couch will sit kitty-corner. The easy chair and other end table will go where the entertainment center is currently at. The dogs' toy box should fit uner the picture window so it is somewhat out of the say. I'm not sure what is happening with the phone stand (oh, and the boot tray has been relegated to my work-out room for some reason). Anyway, our big start to the re-arranging was to transfer the VCR into the new TV stand and get it hooked into the TV - a bigger project than it sounds because just trying to deal with all the wires behind the entertainment center was a nightmare! Tonight we may move the DVD player (another large project - only a couple less wires to go through). Tomorrow I am taking a vacation day (gotta use them all up before the end of the year), so will try to get all the pictures, beanie babies etc. packed and out of the way.
