Music Meme Round 3
This is southern rock at it's best (my appologies to those who worship the Vahnn brothers). This 1979 album features a bunch of songs that were played on a regular basis on the radio: the title song, Whiskey Man, One Man's Pleasure, It's all Over Now etc.
The title song, Flirtin' with Disaster was my favorite, and I managed to find a concert video from 1979:
This song is high energy personified and talks about traveling life. However, the lyrics that really pulls me are:
We're flirtin' with disaster, ya'll know what I mean
And the way we run our lives it makes no sense to me
I don't know about yourself or what you wanna to be, yeah
When we gamble with our time we choose our destiny
Guess it's because really, I've never been sure what I wanted to do with my life. At one time I thought I wanted to be a vet, but came to realize that I couldn't handle some of the demands, and my gray-outs were not conducive to that type of work either. Even now, I am interested in so many different things, but can't put in the concentration to really become an expert in any of them, so wind up just drifting thru whatever work that whoever hires me will put me to (it has worked out fairly well, so I'm not complaining).
