Thunder Child Center Stage

There is only one other thing in bloom this week - Thunderchild crabapple:

The tree is still young, but it sure looks like it will be breathtaking when it grows up:

Prairie Fire crabapple has buds for flowers that should open up in a couple of days. Those flowers will be darker, more reddish.

The Creeping Phlox just below the fence was starting to bloom in the middle of the week:

Unfortunately I didn't take any pics of it yesterday afternoon; we got an overnight shower that caused the color to "pop". I'll try to get a pic later today so you can see the difference.

That's pretty much it, spring blooms have been relatively slow because we have been very dry for the last month or so. A good soaking rain is needed for both the plants and to reduce the fire danger.

The Thunderchild is coming along nicely, and will be even more beautiful when it gets some growth on it. Isn't it arresting how the phlox just fills up a space with color? Your phlox looks like the catelogue photos!
